Brian Keith
(b. 1971)Brian Keith has gained recognition as an accomplished and gifted sculptor of portraits, monuments
and limited edition works. His fascination with the human form and natural ability for storytelling enables
him to create evocative, energetic compositions of contemporary subject matter and style, combined with classical
technique and mastery.
Born in 1971 and raised in the East Bay of Northern California, he began his training with his grandmother at the
age of 7, gaining an understanding of key artistic fundamentals. Based on his exceptional portfolio and outstanding
academic performance in high school, Keith was granted a four-year scholarship to the prestigious Academy of Art in
San Francisco. A calling to the ministry prompted his decision to decline the scholarship in order to study the Bible
and art at Biola Univiersity, a small Christian college in Southern California. The decade following graduation, Keith
served in full-time church ministry while continuing to pursue his persistent aspirations to create great art.
In 2001 Keith would begin a mentorship with leading American artist, Morgan Weistling causing his creative proficiency
to evolve quickly. He was trained in the key artistic elements of oil painting giving Keith a foundation to start
his successful career in fine art. It wasn't until his completion of a portrait sculpting course it became obvious
to both Weistling and Keith that his true passion lie in 3 dimensional clay sculpture.Devoting himself to this
new artistic path, his talent and skill advanced. Recognition and opportunity soon followed. Briancontinues to
create gallery-edition bronzes while also sculpting commissioned life-size and monument-sized works of art, which
can be found on permanent display throughout the country. Each progressive piece Keith creates further
distinguishes his prominence as one of today's leading figurative sculptors.
In 2011 Brian was voted into the prestigious National Sculpture Society as an Elected Professional Sculptor
and into the California Art Club as anElected Professional Artist Member.
